"Genomics for Longevity: From Vision to Reality”, a whitepaper by Oliver Wyman in collaboration with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, explores how genomics can unlock a new era of proactive, precision-led healthcare. Framing longevity as a strategic healthcare and economic opportunity, the paper outlines a phased roadmap to embed multi-omics into mainstream health systems—starting with high-throughput sequencing and advancing toward gene therapies and population-wide prevention. Abu Dhabi is highlighted as a global frontrunner, underpinned by The Emirati Genome Program (800,000+ genomes sequenced) and its “Genome Oasis” strategy. By 2040, genomics could add $33 billion to Abu Dhabi’s GDP, create 22,000 jobs, and significantly reduce chronic disease burdens. The paper also introduces a three-tier longevity operating model encompassing technology infrastructure, clinical integration, and ecosystem enablers—positioning Abu Dhabi as a blueprint for countries aiming to scale genomics for longer, healthier lives.
