THE ABU DHABI GLOBAL HEALTH WEEK (ADGHW) INNOVATION AWARDS

APPLICATION OVERVIEW & ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The Abu Dhabi Global Health Week (ADGHW) Innovation Awards, held on April 15-17, 2025, celebrate groundbreaking advancements in healthcare, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration across the industry. These prestigious awards recognize individuals and institutions that have pioneered transformative solutions addressing critical challenges in healthcare. By spotlighting innovations that enhance patient outcomes, improve accessibility, and streamline healthcare delivery, the awards aim to inspire continued progress in the field.

This year, we are providing four Awards, one for each of the following applicant categories:

Institution (Local) - based in the UAE

Institution (Regional) - Middle East & GCC

Institution (Global) - The rest of the world

The innovations should fall into one of the following three domains including:

Position>

Digital Health

Innovations that leverage technology to improve healthcare delivery, including mobile health apps, telemedicine, wearable health devices, and health data analytics.

Showcase>

Pharmaceutical Innovations & Biotechnology Innovations

Advancements in pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, encompassing the development of new drugs, drug delivery systems, vaccines, and treatments. This category highlights breakthroughs in pharmaceutical science and technology, as well as innovations leveraging biological systems or organisms to create healthcare solutions, including gene therapies, CRISPR, and biologics.

Medical Devices and Diagnostics

Innovations in the design and development of medical equipment, devices, or diagnostic tools that improve patient care, treatment accuracy, and healthcare outcomes.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The ADGHW Innovation Awards are open to individuals and organizations worldwide that have made significant contributions to healthcare innovation. Whether you are a startup, established company, healthcare professional, or researcher, you are encouraged to submit your innovative solutions. Submissions must be provided in English and include all required supporting documents to ensure a complete and thorough evaluation process.

To be considered for the award, applications must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. Compliance with Laws and Standards
+

The solution must meet the relevant ethical, safety, and quality approvals (e.g., FDA, IAA, ISO, etc.) and show evidence of this.

2. Solution Status
+

The solution must be a tangible product or a fully developed system beyond the proof-of-concept stage, such as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). It should be operational, implemented in at least one healthcare setting (e.g., hospital, clinic, or community health program), or ready for market launch, demonstrating clear impact and applicability in healthcare.

3. Alignment with Innovation Domains

The solution must directly relate to one of the innovation domains of the award.

4. Proof Measurable Impact
+

The solution must demonstrate a measurable impact on healthcare by improving delivery, accessibility, or patient outcomes.

5. Availability to Attend
+

If nominated, the nominee or representative must be available to attend the awards ceremony during ADGHW to accept the award in person.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Each submission will be assessed based on key criteria:

  • Innovation & Technical Excellence: ensuring the solution represents cutting-edge advancements in healthcare
  • Impact: focusing on the tangible benefits and potential for global reach that the innovation brings to healthcare delivery and patient outcomes
  • Scalability and Sustainability: evaluating the potential for the solution to be expanded and maintained long-term
  • Equity and Accessibility: how well the innovation addresses healthcare disparities and ensures equitable access

APPLICATION PROCESS

The evaluation process for the ADGHW Innovation Awards will involve a rigorous review by a distinguished panel of global experts, including healthcare leaders, digital health experts and policy makers.

The application portal will be closed on March 12, 2025. Late applications will not be considered. Shortlisted candidates will be informed by March 20, 2025. Winners will be informed by April 3, 2025

BENEFITS TO WINNERS

Winners will receive a financial reward according to award type. In addition, shortlisted applications will also receive a Certificate of Recognition.

In addition to the financial award granted for each applicant category (amount to be confirmed by DOH), winners of the ADGHW Innovation Awards will also receive compensation for travel expenses to attend the awards ceremony.

Held during ADGHW, the ceremony provides a prestigious platform to showcase groundbreaking innovations while offering valuable networking opportunities with industry leaders, healthcare professionals, and key stakeholders. This exposure not only increases visibility on a global scale but also opens doors to potential collaborations and partnerships, further advancing impactful healthcare solutions. This exposure not only accelerates the growth of the winning innovations but also helps position them at the forefront of global healthcare transformation.
