Dr. Laila Abdel Wareth, is a physician executive. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer, Diagnostics, Global patient Care Platform, M42, Chief Executive Officer at the National Reference Laboratory, the Medical Director of Imperial College Diabetes Center Laboratories, previous Chair of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Institute at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Adjunct Clinical Professor, Department of Pathology, College of Medicine & Health Sciences at Khalifa University. Dr Laila also holds a position also as the President of The Emirates Clinical Chemistry Society under Emirates Medical Association in the UAE.
Prior to joining the National Reference Laboratory, Dr. Abdel Wareth served as Chief Medical Officer of SEHA Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Services and Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.
She brings more than twenty-eight years of experience in healthcare, also including roles at British Columbia Children’s & Women’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada and Mafraq Hospital, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Dr. Abdel Wareth earned her medical degree from Ain Shams University Cairo, Egypt and completed her postgraduate training at the University of British Columbia, Canada, in the specialty of Medical Biochemistry and Clinical Pathology.
She obtained Canadian and American Boards accreditation in Medical Biochemistry and Clinical Pathology and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada, the College of American Pathologists. In addition to her clinical degrees, Dr. Abdel Wareth has an Executive master’s degree in healthcare administration from Zayed University, UAE.
She is an active member in various scientific societies and has several publications to her credit in the field of Laboratory Medicine.
