Dr. Jaleela S. Jawad is a prominent healthcare professional and policymaker, currently serving as the Minister of Health in the Kingdom of Bahrain. With extensive experience in public health and family medicine, she has significantly impacted Bahrain's healthcare system. Before her ministerial role, Dr. Jawad was the CEO of primary healthcare centers and led the immunization group at the Ministry of Health. She has also been an expert member of the World Health Organization's Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on immunization and contributed to Bahrain's national COVID-19 task force.
Dr. Jawad earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from King Faisal University in Saudi Arabia and completed a master's degree in Tropical Medicine and International Health from the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. Her expertise includes immunization, outbreak investigation, and vaccine deployment. She has played a crucial role in COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts in Bahrain.
An active academic, Dr. Jawad has published extensively on immunization and non-communicable diseases. She chairs the WHO working group on Global Immunization Data and has served on various SAGE working groups. Her dedication to public health has established her as a respected leader in Bahrain and the global healthcare community.
