Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil is the Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings, a leading healthcare services provider in the MENA region, which employs more than 13,000 professionals and serves more than 6 million patients annually. He is also the Chairman of the DFM-listed Amanat Holdings, the region’s leading integrated healthcare and education investment company with paid-up capital of AED 2.5 billion. He serves as the Chairman of Almasar Alshamil Education Company, which holds special education and care investments in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Additionally, he is a Board Member at Response Plus Holding (RPM), the largest provider of onsite healthcare, medical emergency services and occupational health solutions in the UAE.

Since establishing his first hospital in Abu Dhabi in 2007, Dr. Shamsheer has accelerated Burjeel Holdings’ transformation into the UAE’s largest and leading private healthcare services provider. He leads the Group’s eorts in elevating the level of care in the market across the demographic spectrum through brands like Burjeel Hospitals, Medeor Hospitals, LLH Hospitals, Lifecare Hospitals, Tajmeel, and PhysioTherabia.

Through VPS Healthcare, an investment holdings company, Dr. Shamsheer oversees an extensive investment portfolio, which also includes LifePharma (a USFDA approved pharmaceutical manufacturer in the UAE), VPS Lakeshore Hospital in India, Ziva personal care and cosmetic products, Keita food services, and Educare Institute of Dental Sciences. In an entrepreneurial career spanning almost two decades, Dr. Shamsheer has played a pivotal role in guiding two of his founded companies, Burjeel Holdings and RPM, to being listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. Today, his portfolio companies are a dominant force in healthcare, with diverse and connected networks comprising hospitals, medical centers, pharmacies, and other allied services.

Dr. Shamsheer continues to use bold vision and innovation to address the wider healthcare and skills-gap challenges. Under his guidance, RPM has expanded its footprint across strategic locations, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, India and Ethiopia. Dr. Shamsheer also leads Amanat Holdings in setting strategic priorities, overseeing corporate governance, and driving initiatives to create value and deliver a positive impact to shareholders, partners, and communities.

Dr. Shamsheer completed his medical training at Kasturba Medical College, India, after which he received additional specialty training in radiology. He has received numerous global and local accolades for his continuous pursuit of excellence in developing healthcare and entrepreneurship. He is the recipient of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, India’s highest civilian award presented to Non-Resident Indians, and the GPF Global Humanitarian Award. He is a member of the UAE Medical Council. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, he remains committed to building capability and capacity in the region.
